Short version: some stores pay us a small commission when you buy through our links. You pay exactly the same price. That’s the whole business.
How the commission works
When you click “Go to store” and then buy something, the store (or the affiliate network it works with) can see the sale came from us and pays us a small cut. Right now that’s through the eBay Partner Network, with more networks and retailers on the way. The link might add a tracking code or set a cookie so the store knows it was us. It never changes the price you pay.
What commission never changes
- The order of prices. Every price table is sorted cheapest first, including postage when the store tells us what it is. Nobody can pay to jump the queue.
- Which prices you see. We don’t hide a cheaper price because that store pays us less (or nothing).
- What we call a deal. Our “price drop” labels come from the numbers, not from anyone’s marketing budget (more on that below).
What our labels mean
We’d rather you knew exactly what we’re claiming, so here’s the fine print, in large print:
- “X% below usual”: today’s lowest price is at least 5% under the product’s usual price. “Usual” is the middle (median) of its daily lowest price over the last 90 days, and we only work it out once we’ve tracked the product for 30 days or more.
- “X% price cut”: the seller is showing a “was” price and today’s price is at least 5% under it. That’s the seller’s own claim, so we only use it while we don’t have 30 days of our own history, and we ignore anything claiming more than 60% off.
- “$X under the typical store price”: the cheapest store beats the middle price across all the stores we’re tracking for that product right now. We only say this when at least three stores have it.
What’s on the home page
Nothing on the home page is hand-picked. The category up top is the one shoppers clicked through to stores from most this week (until there are enough clicks, it’s the one we compare at the most stores). Biggest real drop only ever uses our own price history, never a seller’s “was” price. Most compared right now is simply the products sold by the most stores. No store pays to be featured anywhere.
What we don’t do
- We don’t cover every store in Australia. We compare the stores we’re connected to, and that list doesn’t include some big names yet. Someone else might sell it cheaper, and we’d rather tell you than pretend otherwise.
- We don’t sell anything. You buy straight from the store, on their terms, with their returns and warranty.
- We don’t write sponsored reviews or take payment for coverage.
Prices move fast
We refresh prices several times a day, but stores can change them any time. Always check the final price, postage and stock on the store’s site before you buy.
