Short version: we collect as little as we can, we don’t sell your information, and when you click through to a store, their privacy policy takes over.
Who we are
cockyfind (“we”, “us”) runs cockyfind.com, an Australian price comparison website. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. You can reach us at hello@cockyfind.com.
What we collect
- When you browse: like most websites, our hosting provider records standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit and when. We use this to keep the site running and to block attacks.
- Analytics: we use Google Tag Manager to run analytics tools such as Google Analytics, which help us understand which pages and products people use. They collect things like pages viewed, the device and browser you use and your approximate location, and use cookies to do it.
- When you click “Go to store”: we count the click against the product and store so we know what’s popular. We don’t record who you are when we do this.
- When you contact us: your name, email address and whatever you include in your message. It’s stored securely and sent to our inbox so we can reply.
We don’t ask for payment details, because you never buy anything from us.
Cookies and affiliate links
Some links on cockyfind are affiliate links. When you click one, the store or affiliate network (such as the eBay Partner Network, and in future networks like Commission Factory and Awin) may set a cookie in your browser so they can tell the sale came from us and pay us a commission. Those cookies are controlled by them, not us, and are covered by their own privacy policies. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings, and the site will still work.
How we use your information
To run, secure and improve the site, reply to your messages, and meet our legal obligations. We don’t sell or rent your personal information to anyone, and we don’t use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
Only service providers who help us run the site: our hosting and database providers, Google (analytics), and our email provider. We’ll also share information if the law requires it. Some providers, such as Google, may store data outside Australia.
Keeping it safe
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold, and we delete messages when we no longer need them.
Your choices
You can ask to see or correct the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing hello@cockyfind.com. If you’re not happy with how we’ve handled a privacy issue, tell us first. If we can’t sort it out, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes
We’ll update this policy as the site grows (for example, if we add price alerts). The date at the top tells you when it last changed.
